Endings, Beginnings, and the Power of Nursing Conversations

We have just wrapped up our fourth and final season of Radical Nurse Talk! Thirty-five interviews  that showcase nurses’ essential,  complex, challenging, life-changing relational work. Communication that unfolds in diverse practice settings when people are facing serious health issues that are life-altering, life-limiting or life-ending. While a diagnosis, prognosis, treatment and/or its effects often take the spotlight, these interviews reveal that nurses’ behind the scenes conversations are so  much more than they might appear.

To every podcast guest, I extend my heartfelt thanks  for your willingness to be part of this, to give of yourself, to share your knowledge, experience and expertise in this forum. The library of episodes we have created together  offers nurses, students, administrators, other professionals and the public, a window into many intimate practice spaces where a word, a phrase, its tone and timing, can change a life.

To listeners everywhere, thank you.

All podcast episodes will remain accessible to anyone. We encourage you to share and talk about the podcast episodes with your students, your staff, your peers. Each episode is described on our website as are the  links to resources suggested by guests. Although I am about to retire, these resources remain available.

The beauty of a podcast is that it is accessible anytime and anywhere. We hope that listeners will continue to access this rich resource, that it will stimulate pride in the profession, give language to what is often invisible nursing work and provide mentorship for nurses at any point in their career.

The podcast began as an idea that needed expertise I did not have. I am forever grateful to two professionals who made it possible. Thank you to an incredible and talented  team:  Editor / Producer, Jermey Ramos-Foley, and Amy Strachan who provided  all Administrative Support. It has been such a privilege to work with you.

With gratitude,
Patricia
